Yeah…
That’s the title – “Writing Blog??? – A Tale of Procrastination”
It’s been around a year thinking to start blog and six month to create this ID. But, it’s never too late for starting anything.
It’s not that I was so busy doing something really important, but, we have cultivated the habit of delaying the things unnecessarily or just passing time doing something without any motive.
In daily routine we actually do not devote our time to the deeds/jobs that we actually want to do. Of course, I am also one of those who just keeps delaying.
So the word for this habit is – “PROCRASTINATION”. It’s a heavy word, isn’t it? I think this problem is so wide among people that if we call it a Disease, it won’t be wrong.
If you search for the meaning of Procrastination on Google, it shows as – ‘the action of delaying or postponing something’. If we read the very next line to the meaning, that reads as – “your first tip is to avoid the Procrastination” Isn’t it funny that the meaning itself warns us.
I decided to search about it. ‘Why do people make this mistake again and again?’ Of-course, including me. I found few reasons.
First, ‘Beginning phase of any job’ is the most difficult phase. Let me explain you this by giving my example only. I have the habit of maintaining to-do list. I use Google Keep App for this and it really helps as it keeps on reminding me the jobs to be done. But, to complete a job, firstly I need to start that and I really don’t understand why I am never in mood to do that, unless some due date kind of pressure strikes.
Second, ‘lack of enthusiasm’, I still remember the day when I first tried to ride a bicycle. I was so excited to learn that that I even used to skip my meals. I was not excited that much even while learning to drive the car. Those were the days which I can never forget. Okay… Coming back to the point. So, may be now I am too grown up that nothing excites me and I guess this result in procrastination.
Third, ‘Tomorrow I am surely gonna complete this’, we always find a Tomorrow for our todays work. Don’t we? Thank god, Kabir is no more, otherwise, he would have been so depressed watching his famous couplet (doha in hindi) –
Kaal Kare So Aaj Kar, Aaj Kare So Ab
Pal Mein Pralaya Hoyegi, Bahuri Karoge Kab
Translation in English
Do Tomorrow’s work today, today’s work now
If the moment is lost, the work be done how.
not being followed and just being few words on a piece of paper to be read in schools.
Fourth, ‘Social Anxiety’. Social anxiety basically means fear of negatively judged and evaluated by others (society). What others will think about me? How will I face society? Blah.. Blah.. Blah.. Somewhere or sometimes we all go through this. In such a situation, just remember one thing – “Public’s memory is short lived”. It means, public forgets any topic or happening very soon. So, if any such question comes to your mind, don’t worry, they will forget what you did too.
Fifth, ‘Fear of Failure’. Biggest problem with us is to keep on thinking, what will happen if I don’t succeed in this work? How will I face myself? How will I look into the mirror? I have been topper in all the fields and … Actually, the question that strikes me immediately after the above question is – How can I think about success or failure at the stage when I have even not started the work?
There can be n number of reasons for n number of persons.
So, What can be the solution to this?
According to me, the easiest step to take is to stop overthinking and just do it. Think about the amazing things you are going to learn.
Just remember, if you want to do anything new tomorrow, you first need to clear today’s stock of work. If you have got a Tomorrow, that’s an opportunity, many even don’t get it.
Stop thinking about society and listen to your heart as at the end of your life, only you are answerable to yourself for what you did. Stop making excuses and just take the first step and then see the result.
So I would now finish this blog with a question for you all…
B.bye…

I, too, was procrastinating, and mine was driven by fear. I am so glad I decided to begin a blog and create. I realize I need to write to stay sane and at peace with myself. I enjoyed reading your blog and momentarily exploring life with you. I hope to read more of you in the future.
